Funeral Plans

Why buy a Funeral Plan?

The most common reasons are:

  • Reduce the financial burden on those you leave behind by covering the cost of the funeral arrangements in advance.
  • Protect yourself from rising funeral costs in the future by securing the cost of your funeral today.
  • Peace of Mind – Funeral wishes are set out in a guarantee, so relatives know what was wanted, and have no reason to ignore the wishes of the deceased.
  • Choose to personalise your funeral by expressing your personal wishes to us.
  • Enable your family to add any personal touches to the arrangements at the time of the funeral.
  • Nominate your preferred funeral director to provide care, support and reassurance to you and your family.
  • Thoughtfulness – One of the greatest human motivations is to be thought well of by others.

Like making a Will, a Funeral Plan shows that you care enough to relieve loved ones of potential financial and emotional burdens at a difficult time.

“Those you leave behind will remember your thoughtfulness.

Why do we include Funeral Plans, in our services?

While recognising that thinking about your funeral is not an easy thing to do, we believe we have a duty of care to advise clients of ALL appropriate services. It is an excellent product and, in the right circumstances, of great benefit, both financially and emotionally, to our clients.

Most people believe that if they put their funeral wishes in a Will, then that will be sufficient to ensure that their executors carry out their wishes. This is not the case. It is established in law that executors are under no obligation to abide by a Testator’s funeral wishes as expressed in a Will. They do not even have to use money set aside for a funeral for that purpose. We feel a properly executed Funeral plan is an excellent way to ensure your wishes are adhered to and it removes an added burden from your loved ones.

The subject of Funerals is very personal and sensitive, so people’s feelings differ.  Some prefer not to think about it; others like to ‘sort everything out’ in advance.  We find however that if our client has personal wishes, it is sensible to let relatives know, rather than let them guess what our client would have wanted.
